I'm Helen, the founder and hand dyer behind The Wool Kitchen based in east London. I dye from my garden studio shed.
From Frida Kahlo to David Bowie, to super-novas and the Jurassic coastline, I'm endlessly discovering inspiration for new and unique colour-ways that are only achievable by hand.
All my bases are suitable for hand knitting, crochet and weaving.
I work with ethically sourced yarns including UK sheep breeds,
kid mohair and Peruvian merino-silk blends. My bases are soft and durable to wear.
Most colourways are repeatable. I also offer a dye-to-order service,
so you never need be short of a jumper's quantity of yarn from the same batch.
My passion is to bring you hand-dyed yarns that inspiring you to knit and enjoy every stitch! I love yarn that has a short colour change so that working with it is full of excitement about what’s coming next, and how stunning the finished fabric will be....
This is a journey where my art feeds your craft story.
